Abstract (EN)
Aim: Functional Septorhinoplasty is a frequently applied functional and aesthetic surgical procedure. Functional and aesthetic gains after FSRP, along with improvements in the nasal functions of the patients, increase psychosocial self-confidence and decrease social recession. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effect of FSRP on facial rejuvenation and its relationship with satisfaction. Material and Method: In this study, 244 patients who underwent FSRP between January 2018 and August 2020 at İnönü University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery were included in the study. Postoperatively, the patients who underwent FSRP were photographed with at least 6 months of follow-up. Preoperative and postoperative photographs in our archive were evaluated with age analysis program and FACE-Q satisfaction questionnaire was applied to the patients. Subgroupings were made by demographic characteristics. Correlation analyzes were performed between these groups. Results: A total of 244 rhinoplasty patients, 102 (41.8%) male and 142 (58.2%) female, were included in the study. The mean preoperative age, which was determined by the age analysis program of the patients, was 25.9±6.1 and the mean postoperative age was 25.7±5.8. The mean follow-up period of the patients was 25.3±8.7 months. When the aging of the patients during this period is taken into account, the mean age change showing the rejuvenation effect of rhinoplasty was found to be 2.4±2.8 years. The mean general satisfaction of the patients was found to be 1.2±.4 in the preoperative period and 3.4±0.8 in the postoperative period, indicating a significant increase. In the correlation analysis, no correlation was observed between both preoperative satisfaction and postoperative satisfaction with other parameters. There was a positive correlation between age and age change. Rhinoplasty had a more rejuvenating effect on women than on men. Conclusion: Functional Septorhinoplasty had a remarkable effect on facial rejuvenation as well as facial beautifying effect. This effect was more prominent in older ages and women.
