The place and the process of use the rainbow of desire technique in forum theatre

Theater of the Oppressed, developed and systematized by Augusto Boal, is known for its criticism of classical Western Theater, has become widespread throughout the world through the new theatre mentality it created. Following Boal's footsteps, this study is about the implementation processes of the exercise systems specific to the Rainbow of Desire technique, within the Theater of the Oppressed system. Rainbow of Desire is a therapeutic theater technique that allows people to analyze their experiences of oppression through their subjective perspective. Within the scope of the study, a series of workshops were organized in which exercises specific to the Rainbow of Desire technique were applied. A total of 14 participants took part in these workshops. The internal oppressions uncovered through the exercises utilized in the workshop were grouped and concretized based on themes and images and then transformed into a Forum Theatre Scene. Thanks to the workshops organized and the staging that took place as a result of the workshops, the practice processes of the Rainbow of Desire technique were determined and discussed in detail. In addition, the spect-actor, a unique notion of Forum Theatre, was experienced by both the participants of the study and by the spectators who watched the stage performance. In this way, while the individual, subjective, and psychological layers of the oppression, which was revealed with the Rainbow of Desire and the Image Theatre techniques were brought to the stage as Forum Theatre, not only revealed the social dimension of the problem, but also brought the oppression to discussion with the participation and interaction of the spect-actors.
