Abstract (EN)

Photobioreactors have been the subject of this study with their benefits such as allowing people to experience photobioreactor systems live on facades and urban reinforcements in the field of architecture, providing incentives for this renewable energy source, and generating energy. In the first part of the study, the history of photobioreactors, their types, areas of use, their place in architecture and the algae grown in photobioreactors are explained in order to reveal the conceptual framework. In the second part, the methodology is explained and the examples examined within the scope of the study are analyzed. In the study, a 3-stage method is designed as literature review, bibliographic analysis and sample structure analysis. The aim of the study is to provide information about the advantages and disadvantages of photobioreactors, the benefits they provide to architectural structures, their potential for use in different functions and the limitations that cause them not to be preferred at the expected rate. In addition, it is aimed to contribute to the literature in integrating photobioreactors into sustainable architecture in the future. In the third part of the study, the examples examined are compared with each other in terms of area of use, type of photobioreactor used and intended use. In the fourth and final part, through the information obtained from the literature, bibliographic analysis and the structures examined, suggestions are presented on the contributions of photobioreactors to the field of architecture.
