Abstract (EN)

This study has examined the cinematographic technics that Auter director Stanley Kubrick used in his filmography consisting of 13 films by focusing on photographic experience. The study has especially aimed to examine the indicators and technics that Kubrick used while developing his unique filmic language. This examination includes the analysis of the images chosen from his films by matching in addition to the analysis of the photographs that the director took for the magazine called 'Look'. The analysis has been made within the context of performative, aesthetics and cinematographic technics. The cinematographic preferrences of Kubrick as an Auter director have been studied in regards to his efforts for creating his own filmic language. The process, in which Kubrick as a photographer formulated his filmic language also as being a director has been studied. How photographic experience has benefitted from visual aesthetics and technic factors in creating cinematographic Auter discourse has been studied. This study has discovered how Kubrick included photographic features and elements in his filmic narration and also how this photographic experience was transformed to filmic langauge. Stanley Kubrick, as a photographer, used some methods while he was creating his filmic language as a director. Together with this, he used these signs in order to create the cinematographic narration of photographic experience. It is highly important to study some certain features and components of photograph that gets involved in filmic narration and creates this special discourse by this way. The purpose of this study is to enlighten the beforementioned questionings. The photographer background of Kubrick clearly showed its effect on his directing approaches and filmic language. Performative, aesthetics and cinematographic technics he used in his films prove the noteworhty reflection of his photographic experience. In the light of these, it has been concluded that the unique directing approach of Kubrick has significantly been shaped by his past experiences as a photographer.
