Examination of Franz Peter Schubert's D. 821 La Minor Arpeggione and Pianoforte Sonate in terms of form and cello techniques, suggestions for working methods

In this thesis, Franz Peter Schubert's Sonate for Arpeggione and Pianoforte, D. 821 in A minor, a cornerstone of the cello repertoire, has been comprehensively examined in terms of its form, structure, and cello technique. The study consists of three main sections. The first section delves into the organological development of string instruments, focusing on the physical changes the cello has undergone throughout its historical evolution. The second section explores Schubert's life, personality, and works, providing a structural framework for understanding the Arpeggione and Pianoforte Sonate within the context of his compositions. The third section conducts a detailed analysis of the Arpeggione and Pianoforte Sonate in A minor, D. 821, examining its form and structure, as well as providing technical and musical insights for performers. By analyzing the piece from both technical and musical perspectives, this study offers practical recommendations to aid performers in mastering the challenges posed by the Arpeggione Sonate.
