Determination of production parameters for successful agricultural production to achieve rural development in the Fırat basin

This study was carried out to determine the animal potential of the Euphrates Basin, which is one of the most important livestock production centres in Turkey, and the factors necessary for successful production. Agricultural enterprises operating in Adıyaman, Bingöl, Diyarbakır, Gaziantep, Elazığ, Erzincan, Malatya, Şanlıurfa and Tunceli provinces located in the Euphrates Basin formed the material of the study. In this research, primary data obtained from agricultural enterprises engaged in agricultural production in the Euphrates Basin were used. For this purpose, questionnaires tested by blind trial applied to the owners of agricultural enterprises in the provinces forming the study area in the Euphrates Basin were conducted. The number of samples was determined according to the Yemane equation. Chi-square test statistics were used to determine whether the difference between the characters examined in the study was significant. It is necessary to increase the existing support and grant opportunities in order to reduce the risk of poverty for the farmers living in rural areas and engaged in agricultural activities and in order to bring them back to production. It is considered that there is a need for a new agricultural support model in our country that will address regional differences and respond more effectively to the needs of producers and encourage farmers to engage in agricultural activities again.
