The effect of Achillea biebersteinii extract on some biochemical parameters in rats witih fructose and nonalcholic liver lipids

Abstract (EN)

In this study, biochemical effects of Achillea biebersteinii extract on liver tissue of fructose induced on nonalcoholic fatty liver were investigated. Cholesterol, malondialdehyde (MDA), fatty acid composition, A, D, E, K vitamin levels were determined. In the study, 28 adult male Wistar albino rats randomly selected at a weight of 200-250 gr were divided into 4 groups. Control (K), Fructose (F), Achillea biebersteinii extract AB and Fructose + Achillea biebersteinii extract (F+AB). Seven rats were placed in each group. The control group was fed with the standart diet. Fructose application (F) group was administered 50% (v/w) in drinking water for 7 weeks. F+AB group was given gavage in 50% (v/w) fructose drinking water+ Achillea biebersteinii extract 4 ml/kg. Palmitic acid (16:0) level in liver tissue increased in F and F+AB groups compared to Palmitoleic acid (16:1, n-9) F and F+AB control groups compared to control (p<0.001). Value of arachidonic acid (20: 4, n-6) was statistically decreased in the F and F + AB group compared to the control (p <0.001). There was a decrease in F group (p<0.001) and an increase in F+AB group (p<0.01) compared to Retinol control in liver tissue. There was an increase in F and F+AB groups compared to the vitamin K level of control (p<0.001). Significant declining (p<0.001) was observed in the F and F+AB groups at vitamin D-3 level, in this study we determined that Achillea biebersteinii plant extract have different effect on levels of cholesterol, glutathione (GSH), ADEK vitamins and fatty acids of fructose induced nonalcoholic liver.
