Abstract (EN)

In this study, the biochemical effects of Helichrysum plicatum subs. plicatum (Altın otu) on fructose induced non-alcholic fatty liver studied. Malondialdehyde (MDA), Cholesterol, fatty acid composition, glutathione (GSH) and vitamin A,D,E and K levels of liver determined. In the study, over weight of 200-250 gr. 28 male Wistar Albino rats selected randomly dividede in to four groups. Each group have seven animals. The control group (C) consisted of the rats receiving a basal diet; fructose group (F) received fructoce % 50 (v/w) in drinking water. Fructose plus Helichrysum plicatum subs. plicatum exract group (F+HPsP ) received fructoce % 50 (v/w) in drinking water Helichrysum plicatum subs. plicatum (HPsP) exract by gavage. Helichrysum plicatum subs. plicatum exract group received. Helichrysum plicatum subs. plicatum exract by gavage. All treatment applied during seven week. The ratio of palmitic acid (16:0) is increased liver F ve F+HPsP group when compared to the control group (p<0.0001). Palmitoleic acid (16:1) is increased F+HPsP group when compared to the control group (p<0.0001). Ratio of alfa-linolenic acid (18:3 n-3), (20:2, n-6) and Aracidonic acid (20:4 n-6) decreased in F ve F+HPsP groups when compared to the control group (p<0.0001 p<0.01 and p<0.05). The ratio of docosahexaenoic asit (22:6 n-3) in F+HPsP group decreased when compared to the control group (p<0.05). Retinol and K1 level of HPsP group in liver tissue increased when compared to the control group (p<0.05, p<0.0001). K-2 ve d-3 vitamin levels of F ve F+HPsP groups of liver tissue decreased when compared to the control group (p<0.0001, p<0.01). GSH level of HPsP group when compared to the control group decreased (p<0.01). Helichrysum plicatum subs. plicatum exract has different effects on cholesterol, glutathione, ADEK vitamins and fatty acide composition levels of fructose induced fatty liver. Key Words: Fructose, Helichrysum plicatum subsp. plicatum and Non alcholic fatty Liver
