Current problems of football club: comparison of Turkey Super League and Europe's big five league

Purpose: This research aims to examine the current problems of Turkish Super League Football Clubs by comparing them with Europe's Five Big Leagues. Materials and Methods: The universe of the research consists of football clubs in Europe's Big Five leagues and the Super League, and the sample consists of 26 football clubs in the Super League and 136 football clubs in Europe's Big Five League between 2015-2020. The qualitative research method was used in the research. The research data were collected and analyzed in the form of document scanning from the open-access websites of the clubs and federations in the sample and the published reports. Findings: In the research, within the scope of problems, significant differences were determined between Europe's Big Five League and Super League applications in the problems identified in the titles of management and organization, incorporation, revenues and expenses, debts, transfers, number of fans and members, management and infrastructure. Conclusion: In Europe's Big Five Leagues, unlike the Super League, clubs are generally managed as a company and with a corporate management approach, have a healthier economic structure, apply criteria for the transfer of foreign players, have more fans and members, and in managerial practices. It was concluded that there are differences and they are more successful in terms of infrastructure. Key Words: Soccer, Football Club, Turkey Super League, Sports.
