Magical realism in the Romans by Gabriel García Márquez's 'One Hundred Years of Solitude' and Bextiyar Eli's 'evening of the propeller'

Magical realism is a style of narrative that combines magic and reality, deals with extraordinary and ordinary situations together, and does not find the magical features strange. The movement, which was born in Europe, developed in Latin America and is used in various geographies of the world, has become a means of self-expression and a torch of identity struggles, especially for societies living under oppression. Many writers in the world have written their works with the characteristics of this movement. In this study, the magical realism treatment method of Gabriel Garcia Marquez's "One Hundred Years of Solitude" and Bextiyar Elî's "Perwane's Evening", which use the characteristics of magical realism, is compared. The content consists of six sections and many subheadings. In this study, comprehensive information about magical realism, a detailed explanation of how its characteristics are employed in the two novels and a comparative analysis of the magical realism elements of the novels are conducted. The study adopted the qualitative research model, and the works and supporting documents constituting the scope of the study were collected and analysed through document analysis technique. This study demonstrates how magical realism, used by both authors as a tool of self-expression, takes different forms across various geographies, and reveals that it serves as a powerful means of conveying the cultural, historical, and political experiences of communities. At the end of the study, the similar and different aspects of the novel "Perwane's Evening" by Bextiyar Elî, one of the important writers of Kurdish Literature, and the novel "One Hundred Years of Solitude" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, one of the most important writers of Latin American Literature, were revealed.
