The impact of social and economic rights granted to Syrians citizens under temporary protection in Gaziantep on integration

Gaziantep is one of the leading cities in Turkey in terms of industry and commerce. Due to its geopolitical characteristics, it is essentially the gateway from our country to the Middle East in terms of industry and commerce. As a result of the internal conflicts arising after 2011 in Syria, many Syrian citizens have chosen Gaziantep as a city to live and work. Within the scope of the study, the adaptation level of Syrian citizens under temporary protection to our country was analyzed considering a conjunctural situation in terms of continued education, employment, housing, use of health services, and protection. Accordingly, it has been observed that with improvements in the living standards of these individuals who live in our country as refugees, they can become integrated to life in Turkey quicker. It is clear that Turkey's open-door policy towards Syrians in the wake of the Syrian crisis has had a heavy price for Turkey both morally and monetarily. As the number of people fleeing their countries and seeking refuge in Turkey has increased over time, reaching 4.5 million, this has caused a deterioration in the country's macro- economic balances, and a lack of resources. In order to address this negativity, the Turkish government has also begun to grant Turkish citizenship to people with this status.
