Gazimağusa’daki Devlet İlkokullarında 4. ve 5. Sınıf Öğretmenlerine Verilen Beslenme Eğitiminin Öğrencilere Yansımasının İzlenmesi

This research was aimed at measuring the reflection of the nutrition education training given to the 4th and 5th grade teachers (n=27), on the students (n=718) at the primary state schools in Famagusta; which were selected as pilot areas during the 2015-2016 educational year. The teachers were trained with the book called "Sağlıklı Beslenmeyi Öğreniyorum" which was prepared by the researcher. Before the traning, in order to measure their nutrition knowledge by a pre-test, the teachers were given questionnaires which included individual information. After the traning, the same test was given to the teachers to measure the usefulness of the education programme. Following the teachers' training, students were also tested by a specific pre-test in order to check their nutrition knowledge. Therefore a questionnaire was carried out to gather information on their individual information, and their anthropometric measurements and eating habits. After these tests, 3-4 weeks were given to the teachers to convey their learned nutrition knowledge to the students. After the 3-4 week period, the post-test which included the same questions was applied to the students. A significant difference was found between the teachers’s pre-test and the post-test (p<0,05). It was also confirmed that there was a significant difference between the students’s pre-test and the post-test (p<0,05). These results showed that the training that the teachers were given has influenced the students' nutrition knowledge in a positive way.
