Abstract (EN)
Mahmud of Ghazni was the ruler of the Ghaznavid state. The ruler named Abu'l Qasim Mahmut b. Nasser al-Dawla Abi Mansur is known in history as Mahmut of Ghazni. His father was Sebük Tegin, the founder of the Ghaznavids. During the reign of Mahmud of Ghazni, the state gained full independence. His reign was characterized by wars and campaigns(expedition). This statesman, who was successful in the wars he waged, expanded his lands through campaigns to various geographies such as India, Tabaristan, Sistan, Guristan, Kusdar and Mekran. This work entitled "Military Campaigns of Mahmud of Ghazni" consists of four chapters in total. Our study, begins with introductory information about the city of Ghazni and the Ghaznavid state. After describing the history of the city, brief information was given about the Ghaznavid rulers Alp Tegin, Abu Ishaq, Bilge Tegin, Böri Tegin and Sebük Tegin was given and the life of Mahmud of Ghazni, the protagonist of our work, was mentioned. While talking about Mahmud of Ghazni, not only his life is described, but his life is also explored in many ways. His understanding of administration, scientific activities as well as art and architecture are some of them. In the second chapter, detailed information is given about the wars of Mahmud of Ghazni, which is the main topic of our work, and his relations with Muslim states such as the Abbasids, Samanids, Qarakhanids, Fatimids, Buveyhids and Seljuks are explained. In the third chapter, introductory information is first given by mentioning the states that ruled India before the Ghaznavids. Then India at the time of the Ghaznavids is mentioned and Sebuk Tegin's campaigns to India are discussed. After this, Mahmud of Ghazni's campaigns in India, to which he devoted most of his life, are described in chronological order. In total, he organized seventeen campaigns to India, conquered many cities and returned to Ghazni. In total, he organized seventeen campaigns to India, conquered many cities and returned to Ghazni. The last chapter mentions Mahmud of Ghazni's campaigns in Sistan, Ghur, Mekran, Khorezm, Tarum, Tabaristan and Kusdar and concludes the work. vii A chronological order has been followed throughout the thesis in order to better understand the topic. In the preparatory phase of the thesis, care was taken to enrich the work with secondary and primary sources.
