Abstract (EN)
In his thesis titled "Nedimlik in the Period of Ghaznavids and Great Seljuks"; It is discussed how the institution of courtiers, which was known to exist in the pre-Islamic period and continued its existence for a long time in the Medieval Turkish-Islamic states, especially the Umayyads and Abbasids, operated during the Ghaznavids and Great Seljuks periods. The existence of courtiers and the rank of courtiers is known in the states with Turkish-Islamic identity, as in the pre-Islamic and Islamic periods. However, the institution in question was first regulated and regulated within the scope of palace culture by the Sassanid ruler Erdeşir b. It took place during the Babek period. The institution of servants, which was handed down from them to the Umayyads and Abbasids, continued to exist in later emirates such as the Samanids, Buwayhids and Saffarids, and in the Turkish-Islamic states such as the Ghaznavids and the Great Seljuks, which dominated the same geography completely or partially. In the institution, which continued its existence during the Ghaznavids and Great Seljuks periods, there were many courtier poets who were prominent with their literary personalities, as well as the courtiers who accompanied the ruler in the palace. The rulers patronized many poets in their palaces and crowned their appreciation with the rank of courtiers. These poets in question were during the Ghaznavid Period; Unsurî, Firdevsî, Bîrûnî, Menûçîhrî, Ferruhî-yi Sîstânî, Nâsır-ı Hüsrev, Esedî Tûsî, Gazayirî-ı Râzî. During the Seljuk period; Muizzî, Enverî, Nizamî-i Gencevî, Mesheti Gencevî, Müntecebüddîn Bedî. Unsurî, one of these poets, was appointed to the position of melikü'ş-şuara as the head of the poets in the palace. Thus, everything written by the poets first reached Unsurî and then the sultan. In addition to this important duty, she impressed the ruler and other state officials with the poems she recited spontaneously and acquired a great fortune. While Firdevsî gave the first example of satire in his work titled Şehname, which he wrote to Sultan Mahmud, he also left behind a great work about the history of the period. Muizzî, who was the king of poets during the Seljuk period, took his place among the best poets of the period thanks to his descriptions. Another noteworthy issue was that the courtiers accompanying the ruler were not only men. The talents of an important female poet like Meshetî in poetry, her mastery in music and the fascinating effect of her voice made her a servant of Sultan Sencer and she took her place among the important poets in the palace. The people in question managed to become among the courtiers, the closest companions of the ruler, with their wise personalities, pleasant conversations, and talents in poetry and music. Thus, it can be said that the courtier institution, which was known to exist in the pre-Islamic and Islamic periods, left indelible traces in history with the important roles it played in the development and shaping of palace culture during the Ghaznavid and Great Seljuk periods.
