The pregnant women, who get prenatal care, determination of the levels of satisfaction

This descriptive study was carried out to determine the level of satisfaction derived from the prenatal care received by pregnant women. The research was performed between May 2014 and November 2014 with women who presented to the outpatient obstetrics clinics at Turgut Özal Medical Center and Malatya State Hospital Beydağı Campus, which are situated in the provincial center of Malatya. The research population consisted of women who presented to the outpatient obstetrics clinics at Turgut Özal Medical Center and Malatya State Hospital Beydağı Campus. The research sample was determined as 305 pregnant women by using the power analysis method. The data were collected using a pregnant information form and the prenatal care satisfaction scale. Descriptive statistical methods (numbers, percentages, means, and standard deviations) were used to analyze the data and ANOVA, and t-test for Independent groups were used to explore the relationships between various variables. The mean score of satisfaction with prenatal care in the pregnant women taking part in the study was 79.83±12.62 (min:35 and max:100). Approximately 72.5% of the participants had a planned pregnancy and 80.4% of them were administered all the prenatal care procedures they had expected. The satisfaction with prenatal care was found to be affected by the education level of pregnant women, employment status, number of children, experience of a stillbirth, time of first examination, and time of previous pregnancy. In view of these results, we suggest that more effort should be made to raise the quality of services in order to secure and sustain a higher satisfaction with prenatal care.
