Evaluation on narcissistic centerline of psychic organisation of the women in pregnancy period by projective tests

This study analyzes the psychic world of the women in the pregnancy period within the narcissistic line. The aim of the study is to gather information on the changes in psychic world of pregnant women, to reveal the object relations and identifications of expectant mothers and to discover the mutual points of their psychic processes via projective tests within the narcissistic line. In this purpose, semi-structued clinical interviews, Rorschach Test and Thematic Perception Test applied to 10 participants who are in the first trimestre of their first pregnancy. This research found out that pregnant women appeal to narcissistic and childish defenses while the level of interest to themselves and their body increases. The object relations of the participants become distinct in symbiotic manner within the narcissistic line. In addition, the research claims that the participants give importance to the child to be born within the framework of their odipal period conflicts via a narcissistic angle, the expectant mothers have a narcissistic focus towards themselves for their actual pregnancy process.
