Synthesis and characterization of transitional metal complex cation heptaborate structure

Heptaborate structures with transition metal complex cations were synthesized and characterized using elemental analysis, melting point determination, FT-IR, TGA/DTA analysis, Uv analysis, X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis methods. The peaks of (-M-N) phen and (-M-N) pyrid stretching vibrations, which show the presence of transition metal complex in particular, were confirmed by infrared spectra of heptaborate salt structures. As the characteristic stretching vibrations of the heptaborate structure, -OH stretching vibrations of the B-OH bonds present in the structures and asymmetrical and symmetrical stretching vibrations confirming the existence of four trigonal borate molecules in the structures emerged as sharp peaks. Thermal analysis decomposition curves of anionic heptaborate salt structures whose stabilizing cation is transition metal cation were taken. To generalize, data on the degradation products and final degradation products of molecules exhibiting similar degradation steps were obtained. Depending on the similar degradation characteristics of the molecules it is seen that the hydrate water located outside the coordination sphere in all structures move away from the structures in a single step. In general, ıt was observed that the experimental and theoretical mass losses of the degradation step of the hydrate water loss of the molecules were in harmony. As the second degradation step of the hebtobarate salt structures, ıt was determined that there was the removal of water in amounts that could be attributed to the removal of -OH groups in the heptaborate ring in the form of water vapor in all structures. It was seen that this degradation step took place in a single step in all structures and the relevent experimental and mass losses were compatible with eachother. It was observed that the hebtaborate salt structures with metal coution complexes were burned away by the combustion of organic ligand as the final degradation step, metel oxide/boron oxide residues were found and this was supported by powder XRD data. Compound formulas obtained as a result of the characterization applications have been proposed: [Mn(C12H8N2)2(C5H5N)2](B7O9(OH)5).2H2O (I) [Co(C12H8N2)2(C5H5N)2](B7O9(OH)5).2H2O (II) [Ni(C12H8N2)2(C5H5N)2](B7O9(OH)5).2H2O (III) [Cu(C12H8N2)2(C5H5N)2](B7O9(OH)5).2H2O (IV) [Zn(C12H8N2)2(C5H5N)2](B7O9(OH)5).2H2O (V) [Cd(C12H8N2)2(C5H5N)2](B7O9(OH)5).2H2O (VI)
