Abstract (EN)

This study aims to examine the education of Batman, one of the young provinces of Turkey, from the past to the present, starting from the pre-Republican period to the present day, by filling the chronological gaps in the existing literature. The effects of the province's transition from district to province status on the education system and the transformations experienced in education constitute the main focus of this study. In this work, the pre-Republic and post-Republic education and training activities, the education policy of the Republican era, public education activities, developments and activities in preschool, primary, secondary, and higher education are examined in broad outlines, and the education and training efforts both across the country and specifically in Batman are discussed in a comparative perspective. The study is supported by statistical data such as the educational status, the number of schools, classrooms, students, and teachers during Batman's processes of becoming a district and a province. Furthermore, the place allocated to education in Batman's press and publishing life, magazines published on education, and the contributions of those who dedicated themselves to education are also among the topics examined in the study. This study aims to fill a perceived gap in Batman's educational system from past to present. The findings are expected to provide a better understanding of the development of Batman's education system and inform future educational efforts. Keywords: Batman, Pre-Republic Education, Post-Republic Education, Educational Institutions, Education, Educational History.
