Interpretation of traditional tapestries in pictures

Human beings have the ability to create a new structure or thought by associating different elements and thoughts with their understanding, making sense and productive features. This is the case in art as in all areas of life. The artist can produce artworks by creating new meanings and structures by blending a structure, thought or meaning specific to different cultures, disciplines, fields or concepts with an independent one. The aim of this study is to create pictorial applications using traditional tapestries and to make inferences in the name of art in this context. In this study, literature review was made from different sources and qualitative research method was used. In this process, it has been tried to reveal the examples of the studies created within the scope of the thesis in the direction of the information obtained, by considering the examples reflected in the art. This study consists of four parts. In the first chapter, factors such as problem situation, purpose, importance and method were mentioned in the formation of the thesis study. In the second and third chapters, some researches and examinations related to the studies carried out within the scope of the thesis are included. In the fourth chapter, the analysis of the pictures made within the scope of the thesis by using the descriptive analysis method is given. In this section, the conclusions reached with the researches and examinations carried out within the scope of the thesis are embodied by the analysis of the produced pictures. In the fourth chapter, 22 pictures, 6 during undergraduate education, 6 during postgraduate education, and 10 at the thesis stage, are explained in stages. At the beginning of the creation process of the paintings, feather texture was used. Afterwards, compositions were created by using carpet and rug objects and applied to the painting surface. In the last stage, the first tapestry experiment was carried out on the painting surface, which was the last application of the undergraduate period. After this experiment, a series of pictures, which are versions of this picture, were created during postgraduate education. In the studies carried out at the thesis stage, the popular patterned tapestries of Anatolia were the subject. By examining the subject descriptions of these carpets, another object with similar meanings was used together on the painting surface in line with the meanings and relationships it evokes in the mind. Thus, a collective and new meaning was created between objects. It has been tried to create a pictorial language with the differences in the application and the meanings created by going beyond the copy in the objects used. As a result, it has been determined that the rich image of the colors and motifs of the tapestries and the pictures can be produced by making use of the subject content of the carpets.
