ABSTRACT İnce, İ. Effects of Plyometric and Pull Training Combined With Traditional Weightlifting Training on Strenght and Performance. Dumlupınar University Institute of Health Sciences, Physical Education and Sports Program, PhD Thesis, Kütahya, 2018. The aim of this study is to examine the effects of pull exercises and pliometric exercises combined traditional weightlifting training program on strenght and performance. 34 young weightlifters, ages (15-17 years), were randomly allocated in 3 training groups of 8 weeks (pull, pliometric and control). The Pull Group trained the 4 pull exercises added to the traditional training program for 2 days a week. The Pliometry Group trained the 4 pliometric exercises added to the traditional training program for 2 days a week, while the control group only trained the traditional training program. Magnitude Based Inference (Cohen's d) were used for pre-test and post-test standardized changes in the biomechanical measurements and vertical jump measurements, snatch, clean and jerk, total, body composition, squat, back strength. The control group was found to be more likely to increase snatch and clean & jerk total performance (d=0.443). The probability of increase in back strength (d=0.422), 30sec Repeated Jump Anaerobic Power (d=-0.375), and 30sec Repeated Jump Reactive Strenght Index (d=-0.359) was found to be higher in the pull group. In the pliometric group, the probability of increasing Counter Movement Jump (d=0.376), 30sec Repeated Jump (d=0.672) and 30sec Repeated Jump Anaerobik Power were higher (d=0.362). In the biomechanical measurements, the probability of increasing the force in the control group was higher (d=0.368) and the probability of decrease in peak velocity was higher (d=0.699). Also it was found that the barbell velocities were more likely to decrease in the power snatch (d=-0.676 / -0.48) and Full Snatch (d=-0.714 / -0.604) of the Control Group and Pliometry Group. As a result, pliometric exercises and pull exercises added to the traditional training program improve some of the strength characteristics but negatively impact weightlifting performance. For this reason, it can be considered that competition training programs are dominated by competition exercises. Key Words: Weightlifting, Snatch, Clean&Jerk, Pliometrics, Pull.
