Flute program with Turkish traditional music elements

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of ?Flute Program With Turkish Traditional Music Elements? on flute studentsThe first chapter of the study, was a survey applied to the students whom are playing western music instruments. The purpose of the survey was to collect general information about music and instrument education of the students and students? opinion about ?Flute Program With Turkish Traditional Music Elements?. Next Instructers whom are teaching instrument interviewed with a structured open ended interview method in order to collect data related to purpose and basic fundamentals of the study. Collected datas coded and categorized.The next chapter of the study was to develop ?Flute Program With Turkish Traditional Music Elements?. This program aimed teaching 14 basic flute technics with individually composed exercises. Exercises composed in Turkish ?Makam? scale and contains Turkish rhythms. Exercises have sent to 10 experienced flute teachers, and they asked to make comments about etudes? technique and musical context. Collected datas coded with pre-defined categories.The last chapter of the study was an experimental method. Two groups defined for experimental process, and both groups performed thesame piece as a pre-test and the post-test.Pre-test and post-test performances evaluated with ?Performance Evaluation Chart? by 10 flute teacher. Collected data analyzed with ?Non-Parametric Wilcoxon Test? and ?Man whitney U test? using SPSS statistical software.Results indicate that ?Flute Program With Turkish Traditional Music Elements? was influential in developing basic flute technics.
