Gallipoli-Waterloo comparison through tourism potential analysis in Turkey

In the first part of the research, by being emphasised on the tourism concept and types of tourism, motivations that direct people to participate in tourism activities are mentioned. In the second part, dark tourism which handled as part of the special interest tourism based on culture is tried to be explained with its all aspects and types. At the same time by focused on the factors affecting supply and demand for dark tourism and also dark tourism products are mentioned. By being given examples of dark tourism destinations, it is tried to establish an idea about the potential of dark tourism in our country. In the third part, the research is addressed the main issue Waterloo and Dardanelles Wars and alsoWaterloo Battlefield and Gallipoli Peninsula Historical National Park are mentioned. MacCannell?s (1976) sacralization process of the touristic objects by being applied on both battlefields, the numbers of the visitors are put forward.
