Emerging market economy and Turkey: Competitive analysis at foreign trade

Abstract (EN)

In Today there was formed a large literature on the concept of globalization and the approach which is emerged in this context includes significant differences. In the latest wave of globalization that began in the 1980s, countries have had difficulty in adapting to this process at first, but in today a strong liberalization seems to get into the world in general. IMF policies have made important contributions to the acceleration of the process of globalization. Especially with the collapse of the Eastern Bloc, the IMF has found easily the possibility of applying their own policies the process of recovery of these countries. However, IMF policies began to be questioned with many local, regional and the global financial crisis. Inadequate policies implemented by the IMF and the country became clear thoroughly drawn into the crisis and can not even prevent the occurrence of new crises is appearing the confidence is shaken by this institution. Over time the Turkey involved in globalization that, has remained positive and negative influence of many factors. The growth of foreign trade, increased foreign trade of the countries of the group is some of the positive effects of globalization. The subject of contagion of the crisis is the best known in the negative effects. For example, in this period, Turkey is affected from the national and global financial crisis. A critical competition has occurred with the globalization process at worldwide and especially in developing countries began to work to increase competitiveness and the share of world market. The emerging market economies that increase global competitiveness rapidly and separated from other developing countries with these characteristics have come to the fore. Emerging market economies are countries that accepting foreign investment, rapidly increasing production, industrialization and foreign trade data in the free market environment. These countries while integrating into the global market by foreign trade have gained importance in some industries (Textiles, iron and steel and automotive). These sectors' share in the external trade figures for emerging market economies which accelerate the industrialization process is high. This work is divided into four sections in itself. New economic order and the concept of globalization are expressed as descriptive in the first section. The development of the globalization process and IMF policies which is contributed to the globalization process are also discussed. The effect of emerging market economies in the globalization process, globalization in Turkey's economy from 1980 to present and foreign trade- competitive relationship in the new economic order was examined. In the second part, textiles, iron and steel and automotive sectors are discussed Turkey and emerging market economies (Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Indonesia, South Africa, South Korea, Poland, India and China). Thus, the situation of Turkey has tried to expose against the developed countries and nine other emerging market economies. In the third chapter, the concepts of competition and competitiveness were evaluated at the micro and macro level and this concept is also divided into sections and "Balassa Index", "Vollrath Index" and "Grubel-Lloyd Index" are described to used to measure competitive. In the fourth section, the values obtained from the research have been analyzed and the results are presented.
