Investigation of anxiety and burnout levels of mothers of children with developmental retardation

Abstract (EN)
Aim: This study was conducted to examine the anxiety and burnout levels of mothers of children with developmental delay. Material and Method: The research was carried out with the mothers of 223 children with developmental res backwardness who applied to Diyarbakir Children's Hospital between February and July 2020. Personal Information Form, BAÖ and MTÖ were used as data collection tools. This study was conducted using relational scanning model from quantitative research methods. SPSS 22.0 program was used for statistical analysis of the study. Mothers' subdivision scores and total scores with BAÖ, MTO were examined by correlation analysis. In all analyses, the value of p≤.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: Considering the findings of the study, it was seen that the mothers experienced moderate and high levels of anxiety. Anxiety levels of mothers differ significantly according to mothers' age, education level and income level variables. Burnout levels of mothers show significant differences according to income level and education level variables. Significant differences were found between Emotional Burnout, which is a sub-dimension of MTÖ, and education level, and between income level and MTÖ and its sub-dimensions. A significant relationship was also found between mothers' MTÖ scores and mothers' BAÖ scores. Conclusion: It was concluded that there is a positive and significant relationship between the total scores of the BAÖ and the total scores of the MTÖ and its subscales.
