Abstract (EN)
A ship museum might be old as the first ships. Ships have been opened to visitation of public either due to their heroic actions of the ship or the fact that they were captured as a warprize or/and regarding to their unique properties. In the last two centuries, the concept of museum is emerging and with that more and more ships are converted to ship museums for both preservation and to visitation. Although the whole World is late protecting important ships, in today's cities, it is common to see a ship museum on the waterfront. Methods of the exhibition techniques for ship museums have been studied in this work. Furhtermore, this work tries to find an answer for an ideal ship museum. Four ships from the past have been chosen to turn into museums in todays condition to use methods learned from studying the ideal ship museum. Although ship museum might be perceived as an object, it is one of the most challenging subject in museum studies. A ship museums are one of the biggest objects that are exhibited and to comprehend them, a general approach has been applied as well as a ship specific technics.
