Abstract (EN)

This thesis examines the ways in which Turkish nationalism was transmitted to young generations and its ideological representations through the Genç Arkadaş Magazine, published between 1975 and 1977. The primary objective of the research is to reveal how nationalist discourse is constructed through youth magazines and how it influences young people's identity formation processes. The study employed a qualitative research method. The research population consisted of nationalist youth magazines published in the 1970s, while the sample consisted of articles published in the Genç Arkadaş Magazine between 1975 and 1977. Articles published in the magazine were selected as the data collection tool, and these texts were analyzed using content analysis. According to the key findings of the research, the articles in Genç Arkadaş Magazine powerfully convey nationalist ideas to young people and play an active role in identity construction. This thesis offers a unique contribution to the literature by examining nationalism not only at the level of state policies or high ideology, but also through youth publishing, conceptual discourse, text-based analyses, and societal responses. Keywords: Nationalism, Turkish nationalism, Genç Arkadaş Magazine, ülkücü movement, , youth magazines.
