Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of a 12 week tennis training on some anthropometric and motoric characteristics in young adults. 34 female (age=19,10±1,094 years) and 26 male (age=19,42±1,027 years) university students participated in the study. Prior to and after the 12 week tennis training program that was implemented, the height, body weight, body fat percentage, waist and hip circumference, 5-10-20 meter speed performance and level of play of the participants were measured. Body mass index (BMI) and the waist/hip ratio were calculated. In the determination of the body fat percentage of the study group, the body composition analyzer was used. In the determination of the level of play, the International Tennis Number (ITN) test was used. In the statistical analysis of the data, the SPSS 23.0 software program was used, paired sample t test was applied since the distribution was homogenous and the significance level was accepted as p<0,05. In the study's findings, it was determined that there was a significant difference in the female participants' body weight, body fat percentages, waist and hip circumference, 5-10-20 meter speed performances and ITN levels, whereas there was a significant differences in all of the values of the male participants except for 20 meter speed, BMI and waist/hip circumference (p<0,05). As a result, it can be stated that regular tennis training has a positive effect on some anthropometric and motoric characteristics in both female and male groups.
