Youth's perceptions toward non-society organizations: The case of Malatya province

Participation in non-governmental organizations (NGOs) is very effective in strengthening and establishing democracy. The rate of participation in NGOs in a country contributes significantly to the democratization process of that country. The participation of the youth in the country to NGOs is very important for the future of that country. The more young people participate in NGOs, the easier it is for the country's democratization process to develop and for the citizens of that country to embrace democracy. The political culture from the past in Turkey negatively affects the perception towards NGOs and causes the NGOs not to be given the necessary attention as in the west. This slows down Turkey's democratization process and makes it difficult for society to adopt democracy. The perceptions of young people, who make up the future of a country, towards NGOs show the level of democratization of that country. In this study, it is aimed to determine the perceptions of young people in Malatya towards NGOs. The youth period has been determined by UNESCO as the age range of 15-25. In this study, the interval between the ages of 18 and 25, which is accepted as the age of consent in Turkey, will be used. In the study, a questionnaire was applied to a random sample group of 384 people between the ages of 18-25 in the province of Malatya to find out how the young people perceived NGOs, and the questionnaire was interpreted in line with the aims of the study by applying ki-kare testi (chı-square test)Anova and T tests. It has been tried to find out the perceptions of young people towards NGOs. As a result, political culture, the impact of coups, etc. Young people's perceptions of NGOs are negative because they are affected by many factors.
