George Walker Bush's policy on the Middle East and Turkey

In this study, the foreign policy of the United States of America on the Middle East in general and Turkey in particular during two presidential terms between 2001 and 2009 when George Walker Bush was the 43rd president of the USA is scrutinized. The study starts with George W. Bush's life-story dealing with his national and international policies. After dealing with the history of American foreign policy, George W. Bush's policy on the Middle East and Turkey is discussed. The thesis of the study is the fact that the background of the American foreign policy, existing for over 200 years, went through a turbulent term, and the US and the World have been affected by it. The term took place as a dubious election in the World history with the events during Bush's presidential elections. The fiasco remaining from Bush still has impacts on the world order and international affairs. After W. Bush had been elected as the President, the USA had to deal with different events that she had not seen before. These events are particularly 9/11 terrorist attacks and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. As a result of 9/11 not only the US but also the World got into fear and chaos. The USA adopted an approach in which she destroyed the ones that have the possibility of attacking her. The Greater Middle East Project, whose plans traced back, came onto the top of Bush's agenda again. The USA started the attempts to rule over the Middle East where the regimes she regarded as 'bandit' to secure her existence. By doing this, she made commitments to provide peace, democracy, liberation and stability all around the world in front of the scenes. In this study, the Greater Middle East Project is analyzed in detail. Afghanistan and Iraq were invaded throughout the aims of the Project. W. Bush fell flat in two countries and then found himself in the line of fire. The second part of the study points out Bush's relations with Turkey. The events between W. Bush's government and Turkish government during W. Bush's presidential terms are stated. The resolutions which passed or did not pass on the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and crises are analyzed. The conclusion is a summary of the narration and includes recommendations for future studies.
