Examination of end consumers in recycling logistics by planned behavior theory: A research in TRC1 region

There are significant developments in our country regarding recycling activities. This sector has an important economic share in developed countries. In order to increase the economic impact of this sector in our country, higher attention should be given to the separation from the source. Because the separation of the final consumer at the source reduces the cost and increases the economic impact of recycling. In this respect, understanding the mechanism of end consumers recycling behavior should have an important role to play in developing this behavior. This study aimed to investigate the antecedents of recycling behavior of consumer via a survey form consisting 110 observable variables that make up 17 latent structures. The sample of the study were 478 volunteerly participating people from Adıyaman, Gaziantep and, Kilis Provinces. The recycling behavior were examined on the basis of planned behavior theory. A structural equation model was set up to explain rationals of recyling intention and behavior. The research findings indicated that recycling intention and behavior are perceived as the same structures. Attitudes towards recycling, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control are major determinants of recyling behavior. It was noticed that most of the research variables meaningfully differ according to age and income level of individuals. Married and young people had higher perceived behavioral control on recylcing behavior. Women had higher perceived social benefit of recycling. Perceived behavioral control, self-efficacy and media were found to have positive effect on participants' recycling behavior
