Factors affecting the efficiency in SMEs in Giresun

The concept "Productivity" has always has been the most critical part of the "economic growth" for economic units, even for the smallest ones. It is assumed that every element that provides "productivity" in these economic units contributes to economic growth. Productivity; although it is closely related to many concepts such as profitability, productivity, efficiency, effectiveness, each of these terms actually means different meanings. Knowing the values ​​represented by these terms is extremely important in terms of analysis. Productivity measurement is extremely important for enterprises to maintain their continuity. Because enterprises that cannot analyze their current situation cannot observe the change between their past and current situation, they do not have the opportunity to intervene in their future gains and risks. In this study, "productivity" and productivity related concepts are emphasized and factors effecting productivity were examined. In the last section, the results of the study titled "General status of SME's in Giresun" conducted in Giresun, the factors effecting the productivity of SME's in Giresun were examined. As a result of work, it is seen that the number of companies producing high- tech products is rather low and inadequate in Giresun. Unfortunately, it is likely that existing companies will not be able to compete on a global scale because they do not use "high technology" and do not intend to use it in the near future. It is understood that the importance of "technology transfer" which is very important for developing countries to provide economic growth is not perceived well by enterprises in Giresun. It is realized that the current situation will not change easily in the coming years. According to this result, it is not possible for Giresun to come closer to the growth figures of developed countries in the long term growth.
