Irregular urbanization i̇n Gi̇resun and the resulting problems: Analysi̇s of Teyyaredüzü and Hacı Si̇yam quarters wi̇th GIS

This study investigates "Irregular Urbanization In Girseun and The Resulting Problems: Analysis of Teyyeredüzü and Hacı Siyam Quarters With GIS" according to the research methods and principles of geography. The first part of this study named "Conceptual and Theoretical Framework" examines the emergence of cities, the definition of city, criteria used to define village and city, urbanization, the general situation of urbanization in Turkey and in the world, irregular urbanization issues, sustainable urbanization, urban transformation and Geographical Information Systems. The second part of this study; "Factors Affecting Urbanization in Giresun" widely discusses the effects of nature and human on the development of cities. The third part of the study is called "Irregular Urbanization in Giresun and the Resulting Problems". This part addresses the problems resulting from the natural and human-related aspects of cities and analyses two quarters in the city using Geographical Information Systems. The last part of the study is "Results and Recommendations" where certain measures are listed as potential solutions to the problems. Keywords: City, Urbanization, Urbanization Issues, GİS, Giresun
