Abstract (EN)

The eastern part of Blacksea Region, which is the rainest area in our country, shows too much tendency to the formation of mass movements due to it?s precipitous slopes. In this study, the landslide stability that occured at Km: 1+030-1+170 of Giresun ? Espiye highway, was analysed in terms of engineering geology. 1/10000 scaled geology map of the landslide area, was prepared and litostratigraphy units were from the oldest to the youngest as follows; Çağlayan formation (Upper Cretaceous) and Alluvium (Quaternary). In order to determine the engineering characteristics of soil, in the slopes where the stability calculations were carried out via laboratory experiments of soil samples index propertias, grain distribution, clay types, internal friction angle and cohesion have been indicated. Geological sections of the slopes have been drawn, the level of their possible sliding has been estimated and by using the related engineering characteristics and computer-aided back analysis calculations, safety numbers have been determined according to Simplified Bishop and Simplified Janbu techniques
