Nut folklore in Giresun

This study aims to examine the nut's influence to the culture of Giresun. After a while, this product, known as living source, started to take an important part on traditional characteristics of local people. On this context, our research was conducted to band together existing cultural materials about the nut. We used the literature survey and area search methods to understrand the importance of the nut, taking place on the products of oral literature, kitchen, music and dances, for the province of Giresun and the people of Giresun. The examples were given about the nut on the texts with this research. The materials, taken from resource persons, were transferred to written media by recording. On the introduction part, some information was tried to give about Giresun and on the first section of it, some explanations were tried to involve about the nut. On the nut's culture section and the nut on the folk literature texts section, some compiled products and some text materials were quoted. Also, a dictionary was added including some local words which are used about nut's influence. On the conclusion of this research, the nut's importance on the cultural life of Giresun people was observed. With that, it was observed that popular culture influences the young generation, because of that, there's no effect on the transfer of folk literature and folk science products.
