Abstract (EN)

Onomastic, is a branch of science that examines the name which is a type of word in various ways. Toponmy is a sub-branch of onomastic and its purpose is to examine the proper names of places by specific methods. Toponomy contribute to the richness of Turkish in terms of sound, form and vocabulary, it also sheds light on the past periods of our language utilizing this treasure. The toponymy, which is a branch of science that examines the place, meaning and change of place names, is a discipline on which researchers and interested people from many fields work in our country. Despite many researchers from various disciplines, such as history, geography especially literature produce works about Turkish toponomy national and international scale, the number of places where the names of places are not examined is quite high. Increasing the number of such studies; to keep the history of our country alive and to protect cultural values. Bulancak, which is one of the big and historical districts of Giresun, has a total of 633 settlements (neighborhoods, streets, streets, villages, plateaus, etc.) in settlement. All of these residential areas have their own names. It is possible to interpret the lives, cultures and beliefs of the people living in this region with these toponomy data. Place names are also important in terms of national culture. It is a known fact that place names carry important traces from the memories of societies. In our study, the place names of Bulancak district were examined. The names of the streets, neighborhoods, streets, districts, villages and districts in Bulancak district are discussed from a lexical-semantic point of view and the structure and origins of these place names are analyzed and grouped.
