Hunter profile in Giresun and wildlife human conflict

Abstract (EN)

This study includes topics such as hunting trainings, hunting and hunting by hunters and hunting, wildlife hunting and hunting inspections, factors that cause human conflict with wildlife, and other factors that constitute the profile of land hunters. For this purpose, samples were made with local people in the province of Giresun in the Eastern Black Sea region this context, 268 participants were interviewed and data were collected via questionnaires. The findings were evaluated and presented in the form of research results. The local people who participated in the survey did not have the hunting certificate or any other kind of criterion. It was determined that 76% of the individuals who participated in the survey were in the age group 25-54 and 71% were educated for 1-12 years. 33% of hunters have a monthly income slightly above average minimum wage. Of all participants, 34% had a hunting document. At the beginning of the hunting of the hunters are nature lovers and hunting for pleasure. While 58% of hunters hunt mammals, 31% prefer to hunt birds. The percentage of hunters who know areas where hunting is prohibited is 75%. During their hunting life, 48% of hunters have never encountered hunting supervision. 42% of the hunters stated that hunting inspections should be carried out by the Ministry of Forestry units. 47% of hunters find hunting penalties given to hunters enough. A total of 47% of the individuals engaged in hunting activities in the winter months of the Hunter Associations and who acted to protect the wildlife of the hunter's individuals, to feed on wild animals in the winter months and to leave water in summer were identified. 78% of the participants think that the rural areas under the pressure of urbanization will cause conflict between human and wild animals. 41% of participants argue that people are less likely to interfere in hunting and wildlife environments. 28% stated that the intervention was excessive. 74% of the hunters think that wildlife is damaged because of the increase in the number of people and accordingly the expansion of the habitats. As the most important cause of human and wildlife conflicts; it seems that wild animals have come to the settlement areas to find food and that people have come to want to hunt wild animals. As a result of the surveys conducted, the main problems of participants in hunting; lack of education, a lot of illegal hunting, and insufficient control. They pointed out that the conflict between wildlife and human beings must be kept at a minimum level with protective measures. The most important data that emerged as a result of this questionnaire study made with the local people that the continuity of hunting and wildlife could be possible as a result of the strengthening of the communication between the personnel of the National Parks and Hunting and Wildlife Engineering and the hunters, training of the hunters, deliberate hunting, It has been.
