Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of students at Giresun University on the regional economy and to analyze the consumption expenditures of university students with economic indicators. Consumption habits and consumption decisions may be influenced by various factors. These factors also may change according to the consumer profile. In this study, age, gender, department and place of study, region and income level of the family were used in order to determine consumption decisions.The effects of these factors on students' consumption tendency in free market conditions were examined. The survey method was used to clarify consumption preferences. However, , the importance of students for the regional economy was also investigated. As a result of the analyze, income levels of the families directly affect the consumption expenditures of the students. These are; * There is a positive linear relationship between income level of families and students' expenditures for housing. * There is a positive linear relationship between family income level and employment status of students in the last year. * There is a positive linear relationship between the income level of the student family and the monthly individual expenditures of the students. * When the relationship between students' accommodation and their accommodation in Giresun is examined, the results showed that there is a negative connection due to they were in different provinces even they studied in the same region. Finally the results showed that priority in consumption expenditures of students consists of basic needs such as shelter, food and beverage. Keywords: CPI, Consumption Tendency, Spending Habits
