Abstract (EN)

Urease is an enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of urea to ammonia and carbon dioxide. Urease is an important enzyme of nitrogen metabolism that is found in animals, plants and microorganisms. The urease inhibitors are widely used invarious diseases.In this study, inhibitory effects of extracts of some edible plants growing in the region of Giresun in different solvents on urease activity were investigated. For this purpose, inhibitory effects on urease activity of these plants which were of extracts prepared with water, methyl alcohol and ethyl acetate were analysed by spectrophotometric measurements. As a result of analysis, it was determined that the plant extracts obtained shown different inhibitory effects on urease. Among this plants, the most effective urease inhibitors were water extract of mendek (Aegopodium podagraria) (IC50 0,0003 ± 0,0001 ?g/mL), ethyl acetat extract of pazı (Beta vulgaris L. var. Cicla) (IC50 0,00009 ± 0,000001?g/mL) and methyl alcohol extract of yayla pancarı (Capsella bursa-pastoris L.) (IC50 0,003 ± 0,0021?g/mL).
