Abstract (EN)
The result of the increase in the number of vehicles in recent years, together with the environmental pollution brought to the agenda. Some work has been done to reduce the pollution caused by vehicle engines. In particular, cold working emissions during the first movement of motor vehicles cause the air pollution to increase, which is seriously reduced in the regions with high traffic intensity, in the rate of atmospheric oxygen. The catalytic converter is mounted on the exhaust system to reduce pollutants in the vehicle exhaust gas. Since the catalytic convector does not enter the circuit before the exhaust temperature reaches certain values, the pollution rate is higher in exhaust emission during the first movement phase. Within the scope of this thesis study; Calcium Chloride Hexahydrate (CaCl2.6H2O) used as FDM has been applied to the exhaust system of four-stroke and four-cylinder internal combustion gasoline engine in the case of cold working in catalytic convectors with latent heat storage. In this study, it was observed that, in the first act of the vehicle which is in a state of stopping for a long time, the harmful compounds in the exhaust gas are made less harmful and the catalytic convector can be activated earlier.
