Investigation of job satisfaction and burnout levels of goalball coaches

The concepts of job satisfaction and burnout have become frequently used research topics worldwide as a result of the time individuals spend in their work lives, their work environment, and their internal reactions. This study was conducted to examine the job satisfaction and burnout levels of coaches who have goalball coaching certificates at various levels within the Turkish Blind Sports Federation. The population of this study consists of coaches in Turkey who have a goalball coaching certificate, and the sample includes a total of 251 coaches, 114 female and 137 male, who volunteered to participate. The research was conducted using the correlational survey model, one of the quantitative research methods. The Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale and the Maslach Burnout Scale were used in the study, and the obtained findings were analyzed using the SPSS 25 software package. The study found no significant differences in the job satisfaction and burnout levels of goalball coaches based on demographic variables such as age, gender, marital status, education level, years of experience, coaching certificate level, and sector of employment. However, a significant difference was found in job satisfaction levels concerning the age variable. A negative relationship was identified between the emotional exhaustion sub-dimension of the burnout scale and the intrinsic and extrinsic job satisfaction and overall scale scores. It was observed that as the age of the coaches in goalball, a sport played by visually impaired individuals, increases, they gain more experience.
