Abstract (EN)

The aim of the randomized controlled study was to determine the amount of iron, bilirubin and its effect (oxygen saturation, pulse, cord blood gas, weight) of newborn umbilical cord clamping time in newborns. The population of the study (N=171) was composed of women (37-42 months of gestation) and newborn babies to give birth among those registered on 28.02.2022-30.12.2022. According to the power analysis, a total of 99 pregnant women whose comparison criteria were met were formed. In the scope of the research, consisted of intervention (n=49) and control groups (n=50). The assignments according to the groups are found according to the table of numbers used in the computer with the randomization method. The data were collected using the "Newborn Data Collection Form with Descriptive Information" with a bedside monitor device and newborn weighing instruments. The reporting analysis system of the research data (SPSS 22.0 package program) is frequency-percentage, mean, standard deviation, Chi-Square, t-test system. No significant difference was found between the cord clamping times of newborns and the iron values measured on the 7th day after birth (p>0.05). There is no significant difference in iron levels according to the cord clamping time in newborns (p>0.05). There is no significant difference in bilirubin values of delayed cord clamping (DCC) compared to early cord clamping (ECC) on the 7th day after birth (p<0.05). In newborns, bilirubin values increased on the 7th day of delayed cord clamping (p<0.05), and cord clamping times did not make a significant difference on SPO2, pulse and respiratory care at the 24th minute after birth (p>0.05). As a result, while there was no difference between the iron values of the newborns according to the umbilical cord clamping time at birth, and the results (respiration, SPO2, pulse, blood gas, weight) of the newborns, it was determined that the bilirubin values of the delayed cord clamping increased in deliveries. It is recommended to rework the subject under a different effect.
