Evaluation of nursing interventions on migrant women's (Ahiska Turks) knowledge of family planning, HEALTH responsibility, and attitudes

This study aimed to determine the effect of nurse-led individual, repeated training via a mobile application, and telephone counseling interventions on health responsibility and family planning on the migrant women's (Ahıska Turks) health responsibility levels, family planning knowledge, and attitudes. The study was conducted as a randomized controlled quasi-experimental study between June 2021 and March 2022 with migrant women registered in a family health center with pretest, posttest, and retention test design and with experimental (41) and control (40) groups. The data were collected with the "Socio-demographic Characteristics and Family Planning Anamnesis Form", the "Family Planning Information Form", the "Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile II-Health Responsibility Subdimension", the "Family Planning Attitude Scale", and the "Family Planning Program Evaluation Form". The experimental group received a pretest in the 1st week, multiple interventions (face-to-face interview, mobile application, and telephone counseling) in the next weeks, a posttest in the 8th week, and a retention test in the 13th week. The control group was administered a pre-test in the 1st week, a post-test in the 8th week, and a retention test in the 13th week. In the evaluation of the data, t-test, analysis of variance, Mann Whitney U, Wilcoxon analysis, Kruskal Wallis analysis of variance, and Friedman test were performed. When compared with the pre-intervention values, a greater difference was determined in the mean scores of the experimental group than the control group in the post-test and retention test in the family planning information form, health responsibility sub-dimension of the HPLP-II, FPAS and its sub-dimensions (p<0.05). The results demonstrated that nurse-led interventions, including telephone counseling on health responsibility and face-to-face meetings, a mobile application, and telephone counseling on family planning were effective on women's health responsibility and family planning knowledge and attitudes.
