Analysis of Gökhan Akçiçek?s children?s poems in terms of value transmission

In this study, values in Gökhan Akçiçek?s children?s poems have been determined and it is aimed to put forth for consideration whether these values and general targets of National Education, values aimed within Turkish lesson (6th, 7th and 8th grades) syllabus overlap or not; transmission of these target values through children?s poems.In the first chapter of the study, the problem statement and subproblems have been stated; the purpose and method of the study have been presented. In the study, a descriptive field research method has been used. The scope of the study is children?s poems of Gökhan Akçiçek.In the second chapter, children?s literature concept has been defined and child-poem relations have been studied.In the third chapter, value concept has been defined and value transmission through literary works has been studied. Besides, general targets in National Education and values aimed to be transmitted in Turkish lesson (6th, 7th and 8th grades) syllabus have been stated.In the fourth chapter, values in three poem books of Gökhan Akçiçek have been determined by using descriptive field research method and scanning technique; the values, determined in each book, have been presented as tables. The findings have been put forth by figuring the percentiles of the values obtained. Also, texts have been added presenting the values to this chapter.In conclusion, the values transmitted through the poems and the values aimed to be transmitted in National Education and Turkish syllabus have been compared.In the study, it has been stated that most of the values aimed to be transferred have been transmitted through child?s poems. However, it is necessary to emphasize that value transmission through poetry, which is aesthetic and a different way of expression, is not direct as in other genres (tale, story etc.).In this study, the dictionary of spelling published by Turkish Language Institution in 2005 was used.Key words: children?s literature, Gökhan Akçiçek, children?s poem, value concept, value transmission.
