Abstract (EN)

Disabled persons who are large minority in the world, have issue in accessibility to numerous fields of social life. In this context, the visually impaired are the farthest group from visiting museums where primarily appeal to the sense of sight. With the start that notion of accessibility being discussed in various areas and today's technologies, museums have become establishment where accessibility is provided. But, the transformation of museums into accessible places for the visually impaired is also related to the sensory access arrangements in the exhibition as well as the physical applications. The tactile tours which used in the early periods to access the works of the visually impaired, continue to exist today, they were not adequate with alone in contemporary museology and were replaced by sensory museology methods with works that will activate the other senses. In the scope of the thesis titled "Museum Access Of Visually Impaired" were researched on physical and sensory access regulations for visually impaired visitors in museums. The processes of being visible in social life and legal regulations of disabled individuals were discussed behalf to evaluate of the practises used for visually impaired visitors. In this context, the studies are exemplified about implemented by national and international museums for visually impaired individuals.
