The place of social media in art education in the context of opinions of visual arts teacher candidates

Abstract (EN)

Social media affects today's communication language with its structure that allows interpersonal communication, thus influencing the language of communication in today's society. Its impact on the masses enables it to shape society and introduce new opportunities. As an important factor of social change is an education. It is playing a big role in this communication structure. In this study, it was aimed to determine the views of the participants on the effective use of social media in art education and to make suggestions on the effective use of social media in education based on these views. To achieve this goal, a focus group interview was conducted with 4th grade students studying at Anadolu University Fine Arts Education Department, Painting and Art Education Program. The interviews, semi-structured interview questions were directed to 6 visual arts teacher candidates. The findings were analyzed in accordance with the descriptive analysis method and presented in tables. In the study, it has been observed that participants reach high durations of social media usage. Various opinions are expressed regarding the use of social media in professional careers, with suggestions emphasizing caution.
