The investigation of the views relating with the process service-learning of visual arts teacher pre-services

The aim of this study is to investigate the views of the visual arts teaching department students about activities covered by The Process Service-Learning lesson. Besides, the study is completed by the quantitative and qualitative techniques. The 45 Senior students of Atatürk University , Kazım Karabekir Faculty of Education, Visual Arts Teaching Department joined this investigation in the 2014-2015 Spring Semester. During the study the quantitive data is obtained from process service lesson evaluation scale by likert-type investigation and the qualititive data is obtained from a half constructed interview form developed by expertise views. During the analysis of the quantitative data, percentage, frequency, arithmetic mean and standard deviation are used and for qualititive data, content analysis is used. According to the data obtained from research results, teacher candidates state that The Process Service-Learning lesson brings them social sensitivity, awareness, responsibility and comfort in human relationships. They also think that they are getting sufficient help from the consultant lecturer and the relevant institutions managers and working staff. They specify that the process service lesson is helpful for them but sometimes some economical problems occur,too. The other data that is gained from the investigation is the difficulty in having two compulsive lessons; The Process Service-Learning lesson and school internship at the same time and they want to have The Process Service-Learning lesson in the earlier years of the school . By the light of the investigations results, some advices are presented. Key Words: Visual arts teaching, The Process Service-Learning, painting education, art education.
