Abstract (EN)

The aim of the study is to examine the relationship between the professional images of visual arts teachers and their motivation levels. The relationship between visual arts teachers' "gender", "seniority", "age", "time of employment" and "type of school you work at", their professional image and their motivation levels were examined. The research is a descriptive study in the relational survey model, which is one of the quantitative research methods. The universe of the research consists of 543 visual arts teachers working in Diyarbakır in 2021-2022. The sample of the research consists of 337 visual arts teachers whose simple random method was chosen. In the study, "Teaching Profession Image Scale (TAMS) and the "Work Motivation Scale" developed by Mottaz (1985) and adapted into Turkish by Ertan (2008) were used. The Teaching Profession Image Scale (TSPS) consists of 28 items and 5 dimensions. Scale dimensions a) teachers' professional and personal characteristics, b) social perception, c) professional attraction, d) status and e) media dimensions The Job Motivation Scale consists of 24 items and 2 dimensions The scale dimensions are a) intrinsic and b) extrinsic motivation. The first 9 items in the Job Motivation scale are in the "intrinsic motivation" dimension, and all the items between the 10th and 24th items are in the "extrinsic motivation" dimension (Ertürk, 2016: 87). Before applying the data collection tool, some items (12, 18, 20 and 23) in the extrinsic motivation dimension from the work motivation scale, on which Çayırağası (2013) conducted the reliability and validity studies, were excluded from the educational institutions that formed the sample. As a result of the research, it is seen that there is a moderate relationship between the "General Professional Image" and "General Motivation" levels in the relationship between the Professional Image and Motivation levels of Visual Arts teachers. While a very weak correlation was observed between the "intrinsic motivation" and the "Media" sub-dimensions, there was no positive correlation between the "Social Perception" sub-dimension.
