Abstract (EN)

Changes in Anterior and Posterior Segment Morphology after Intravitreal Injection Objective: To evaluate the effect of single dose intravitreal anti-VEGF injection on anterior and posterior segment morphology of the eye. Method: Medical records of 120 patients who had intravitreal injection because of age related macular dejeneration, diabetic macular edema, retinal vein occlusion and central serous retinopathy were retrospectively reviewed. Central corneal thickness (CCT), anterior chamber depth (ACD), lens thickness (LT), axial length (AL), corneal K1, K2, astigmatism (AST) values measured with optical biometer device and intraocular pressures measured (IOP) with non-contact tonometer were recorded before the injection and third hour, first day, first week and first month after injection. Results: Of the 120 patients 81(%65,5) were male, 39(%32,5) were female and mean age was 67,20 ± 10. There were a statistically significant decrease from baseline in IOP at the first day (p=0,003), and in K1 at the third hour (p=0,015). There were a statistically significant increase from baseline in ACD (p˂0,001), and CCT at the third hour (p˂0,001) and in AST at the first day (p=0,001). An increase in AL at the first month compared to pre-injection and post-injection third hour (p˂0,001), an increase in K2 at the first day compared to third hour and first week (p˂0,001) and a decrease in LT at the third hour compared to first week and first month (p˂0,001) have been detected. Conclusion: Changes in CCT,ACD, LT, AL, K1,K2, AST and İOP were determined after single dose IV anti-VEGF injection, prospective and long term follow-up studies may provide additional contributions to the literatüre. Key Words: Intravitreal injection, Anti-VEGF, Central Corneal Thickness, Anterior Chamber Depth, Intraocular pressure, Axial length
