Green supply chain management and operational performance in Pakistani manufacturing: The role of logistic integration and green innovation

Global warming and toxic waste threaten human life significantly, and scientists are prompted to implement green supply chain management solutions. Hence, this study investigates the impact of green purchasing, internal environmental management, green products and packaging, and eco-design on the operational performance of the Pakistani manufacturing sector. Furthermore, the study also investigates the mediating effect of logistic integration and the moderating role of green innovation. The research uses a descriptive method and a five-point Likert scale survey using the PLS-SEM technique. The study reveals a positive and statistically significant impact of green purchasing, internal environmental management, green product and packaging, and eco-design on logistic integration. Furthermore, green purchasing and environmental management positively and significantly impact operational performance, while green product and packaging have an insignificant impact on operational performance. Finally, logistic integration has a statistically significant mediating effect on independent variables (green purchasing, internal environmental management, green product and packaging, and eco-design) and the operational performance of the manufacturing sector in Pakistan. Moreover, the study provides evidence of the moderating effect of green innovation on the relationship between Independent variables and the operational performance of the manufacturing sector in Pakistan.
