Abstract (EN)

An antimicrobial agent is termed as any of a large variety of chemical compound and physical agent, capable of destroying microorganisms or to prevent their development, either designed as natural or synthetic. Antimicrobial agents that are used in the treatment of disease include synthetic and semi-synthetic chemicals as well as chemical substances or metabolic products made by microorganisms and chemical substances derived from plants. In this study silver flakes was mixed with rose water (Eau de rose) and strawberry tree fruit (Arbutus unedo) in order to form an antimicrobial combination. The studies were performed on the determination of its antimicrobial properties. The effect of the combination was tested on two Gram positive and two Gram negative pathogenic bacteria, therefore the stability of different pHs and temperatures on the combination was analyzed. It was found to be effective at the lowest pH and temperature values on all bacteria investigated in our study. However, there was no statistically significant effect of the combination on bacteria (p> 0.05). This is thought to be due to the fact that bacteria are too resistant.
